Grocery Shopping Tips from the Pros

Many people roll their eyes when they realize it's time to make a trip to the store. But there are a few things that you can do to ensure that your shopping experience is great. So- clean out your fridge, and let's get shopping!

Firstly, it's important to do your homework. A knowledgeable shopper is one who saves time, money and frustration. Take a few moments at home to survey your pantry and write down what you need. With a proper shopping list, you can be sure to reduce the amount of trips to the store. Also, have a look at this week's ad. Make sure to also jot down the products you want that are on sale. This will help you save money at the check out. During the week, if you see you're low on things, write it down. This will help you when it comes time to getting into the store. Also- it might help to plan out your meals for the week. This will take the stress off of you when the kids ask "What's for dinner?". You'll already know what to tell them, and furthermore, you'll have written it down, put the ingredients on your shopping list, and be prepared! Take your shopping list with you- and STICK TO IT!

Secondly, eat BEFORE you shop. Ever make a trip to the store on an empty stomach? BAD IDEA! Everything looks good when you're hungry! To save money (and calories!) make sure that you're stomach isn't grumbling while you're walking through the aisles.

Another way to save is to try store brands. Our Amor line of groceries is tough competition to your favorite brands, and for a GREAT price! This is an excellent way to cut costs. We have store options for nuts, fruits, frozen meat, pizzas, rice- and once you try it, you'll love it!

Look for un-advertised specials. Garden Fresh strives to be your local store with the best deals in town. Quite frankly, there just isn't enough room in our advertisement for all of our specials! This is great for you as a shopper, because it gives you more varieties, and more opportunities for saving! Look for the orange "Special" signs or yellow "Manager Special" tags for more in-store specials.

When buying produce- know what's in season. Our store owner, Adi Mor, is constantly saying "Don't extend your seasons!". Although this seems like common sense, if you really think about it, his produce motto speaks VOLUMES! If you're buying produce in season, it will be better priced, and it's taste will be unforgettable.

And finally: use your rewards card! There are always opportunities for further savings, and prize give-a-ways. Right now we have our Turkey Give-A-Way, so be sure to rack up those points!!!

Enjoy your shopping experience!
